June’s Carrier of the Month, Z&K Bauer Transport, has been a partner of Spot’s since 2019. They always find a way to help us out in times of need, and we appreciate how much pride they take in their operations! Read on for a Q&A to learn more about Z&K Bauer and their take on the transportation industry.
Tell us about your founding: Our family started the business in 2013 hauling raw milk. From there, we started running reefers, and we never expected to grow as much as we have. Having a great team of drivers, mechanics, customers, and friends has surely helped.
What does your company specialize in?: A majority of our business is ag-related with tankers, refrigerated, and hauling heavy equipment. We mostly run in the Northeast for ag moves and then all over the country for reefers and heavy equipment.
Why do you enjoy working with Spot?: We like the personal and friendly atmosphere and enjoy dealing with the same people each day! Spot still has the family friendly atmosphere that has been lost in the industry.
What do you do to pass time while on the road?: We like to talk on the phone and catch up with our family and friends. We take a lot of pride in our equipment, so we also spend time cleaning and polishing our trucks.
If you could change one thing about the transportation industry, what would it be?: The industry has lost its personal touch. Everything has become just a number, and we would change the flexibility trucking once had.
What part of the country do you enjoy driving through most and why?: Really anywhere – just prefer to be out at night time.
What is your favorite part about being in the logistics industry?: I grew up in trucking being the third generation in my family. A large majority of my friends still share the same overall love of trucking as well.
